More UDK updates

Got god rays working in UDK though still need some editing. Also got energy tubes to glow. Now working on floor mist. Will have update soon.

New idea for matte painting

Matte painting can also be used as HDR image for skydome outside the vinelab. It will be adjusted to look like daytime for this as the vinelab is shown in a different part of the trailer, earlier in the day. Quick photoshop previs.

Matte painting progress

Found matte painter to do outdoor background. Not finished. Quick photoshop previs.

characters

Team mate has added character into scene to make scale adjustments on environment. Seems to be working well as is. Mush-room no longer a priority, now focusing on vine lab (below) and 'matte painting view' room.

UDK import time!

Started importing into UDK. Skydome temporary until matte painting finished. Lighting is rough at this stage, still learning how to achieve glow on energy tubes and god rays from ceiling. need to work out how to make floor transparent.

Textures in 'outdoor view' room

Textures complete

Textures complete in vinelab

Ready to export to UDK.

Energy Tubes

Better texture for energy tubes using ramp shaders in Maya. Also more textures added.

Textures

Began texturing using mudbox. Energy tubes need work, very flat colour and boring at present.

Colour tests

Applied simple coloured shaders onto meshes to get an idea for colour scheme. Going for metallic blue/green feel.

Room with a view

Not sure what to call this room. The background is temporary, it's going to be a view of the destroyed Edenata city. Need to appoint matte painter for this. May get rid of trees but keep wall vines.

More modelling

Started work on Mush-room.

More lighting and render tests

Started to previs shaders for glass. Still need to learn how to achieve in UDK.

Modelling

Basic modelling and light test. No problems currently, just blocking out and test rendering in Maya.

The beginning..

The game is called 'Edenata'. The premise: Its the year 2640 and earth's natural resources are quickly running out, and the ozone layer is nearly dead. Luckily, mankind has made vast leaps in the world of technology and scientists have been able to create an entirely man-made planet, called Edenata. A place humans will migrate to once Earth has become uninhabitable. The planet is held in orbit by a core made of eden matter; an energy source found by humans. The eden matter enables inorganic material to grow as organic material would, meaning everything on the planet is mechanical but still generates everything needed for a habitable planet. The  only problem is, it's only a matter of time before someone else in the universe wants this power for themselves. And when that time comes, only one person can stop them....
